The fortress has a rich history and was originally used as a prison. Today, concerts are held here, the Space and Rocketry Museum is open.

The Alexander Column is a monument dedicated to the victory of Alexander I over Napoleon. It was erected by order of the Russian Emperor Nicholas I.
