Female Patron Saint of Madrid is considered the Holy Virgin Almudena, in honor of which Madrid celebrates another day of the city. Easter in Madrid is a popular celebration of passion, death and resurrection of Christ. This is a manifestation of the Catholic religiosity, and it is carried out in sororities, fraternities, and churches. City streets are full with processions carrying heavy sacred images representing the stages of Christ's passion and pain stages, and his mother Mary.
